FGF21 Hormone ‘extends lifespan by 40%
FGF21 is a hormone that is being vigorously studied for it’s amazing health benefits. Although I want to see more studies on this, it is interesting and promising for the future!
A research team at Yale School of Medicine have found that this hormone, which is produced by the thymus glad, may be able to extend lifespan by 40 per cent.
Their findings reveal increased levels of the hormone protects the immune system against the ravages of age.
Researchers said the study could have implications in the future for improving immune function in the elderly, for obesity, and for diseases such as cancer and type 2 diabetes.
Researchers said future studies will focus on understanding how FGF-21 protects the thymus from aging, and whether elevating this hormone through the use of drugs, could extend human lifespan and lower the incidence of disease caused by age-related loss of immune function.
